Stir-Fried Lo Mein with Beef and Broccoli


Jared and I made Chinese food for Christmas Eve dinner and it turned out pretty well. This dish was great, but needed a bit more beef. Jared gave it a 7 and I gave it a 7.5. The recipe came from serious eats.com. 

  • For the Beef:
  • 1/2 pound flank or skirt steak, sliced thin for stir-frying
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon Shaoxing wine
  • 1/2 teaspoon light soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon cornstarch
  • For the Sauce:
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 teaspoon light soy sauce
  • 2 teaspoon dark soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon of oyster sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Shaoxing wine
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • For the Noodles:
  • Kosher salt
  • 1 pound fresh lo mein noodles
  • 4 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1/2 pound broccoli, cut into bite-sized florets
  • 3 medium cloves garlic, finely minced (about 1 tablespoon)
