Buttermilk Syrup
Jared started making this on mornings we had hotcakes, and we all prefer it to the regular maple syrup made with corn syrup. It's warm and buttery, and while it's definitely not healthy, neither is maple syrup. He got the recipe from allrecipes.com, and it gets an 8.
1 C. white sugar I use 1/2 C.
1/2 C. buttermilk
1 cube butter
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 tsp. baking soda (This is just to make the syrup foamy, so I often leave it out)
Heat everything together except the baking soda and vanilla in a saucepan over medium eats until it starts to boil, about 5 minutes. Take off heat, add vanilla and baking soda, and serve immediately.
