Cranberry Chutney

My sister-in-law Amanda made this for Thanksgiving. (well, actually Mike made it, but it’s Amanda’s recipe) This was really great—I give it a 7.5. It would be good on sandwiches and as a great sauce for things like rice.

1/4 of big bag of cranberries

2-3 sliced apples

1/2 medium onion, chopped

1/2 cup brown sugar

cinnamon (1-2 tsp.)

nutmeg (1-2 tsp.)

pumpkin pie spice, a few dashes

Cover with apple juice, and simmer (use more nutmeg than cinnamon). Simmer this down for an hour, and then cornstarch to thicken. Orange peel would also be good in this.

  1. Thanks for posting it. I thought it was funny that people were a bit scared of it because it was warm, but then really liked it. Love this blog! Hope to contribute more soon. :)

  2. Oh, at home I used Pure Grade B Maple Syrup instead of Brown Sugar & it tasted the same. At Thanksgiving they didn't have any in the Pantry so I went with Brown Sugar. Both good, but for a healthier version I would recommend the Maple Syrup.

  3. I keep thinking of things. At home we put Celery in too. Really yummy over rice.
